Sayuri Haruno (春野 小百合 Haruno Sayuri) is the main character of Bonjour Koiaji Pâtissiere. She is a 16-year-old girl who works hard and goes to school called Fleurir Academy in order to achieve her dream of becoming a pâtissiere. Because of her good exam scores, she received a scholarship, which often makes her a target for the judgement of others.

Appearance

Sayuri is a fairly short girl with shoulder-length fuchsia hair that is regularly tied in a side ponytail on the left side with a small purple bow and darkish-pink eyes.

Personality

Sayuri is a very kind, innocent, talented and open-minded girl who always thinks of others before herself. She is also very determined and professional when it comes to baking and she always stays on top of her school work. She also never gives up no matter how hard or challenging things become for her. She is very optimistic, but she also has a tendency to be self-defeating at times. However, in spite of this, she doesn't allow anyone to talk poorly about themselves, and is willing to stand up and tell them all of their good points if they can't find them. She also has a strange ability to affect those around her without realizing it.

She is also a person who values the promises she makes, and feels horribly guilty if she can't keep them.

History

When Sayuri was little, her mom took her to a shop where she saw pâtissiers working where they were working so hard to make sweets that it looked like they were shining in her eyes and she knew that she also wanted a wonderful job like that in the future.

Etymology

  • The name Sayuri means "small" (小) (sa) and "lily" (百合) (yuri).
  • Sayuri's surname Haruno means "spring" (春) (haru) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no), which literally means "spring field" altogether.

Trivia

  • In the past, Sayuri's mother and father owned a patisserie shop.
  • Sayuri falls in love with every character in the show, although she hides it well.
